REC Solar warranty

Claiming on REC Solar

The part is covered. Whether the visit is covered, and whether the claim survives a look at your paperwork, is the rest of this page.

What it pays for labour

20 years

The Alpha Pure-R line carries 240 months of labour cover, which is 20 years and the longest labour term in this catalogue.

REC's standard product warranty needs nothing. ProTrust, the cover on the sales brochure, applies only when an REC Certified Solar Professional installed the system and registered the installation in ProPortal or the SunSnap app. No deadline is published, so do it at commissioning while the details are in hand.

What the claim needs attached

This is the checklist Claim Timer enforces before it will let a claim be submitted. It is the same five lines for every brand, because the reasons claims fail are the same for every brand.

Install record

Almost every warranty term is measured from a date: installation, delivery, or a fixed period after manufacture. Without a recorded install date there is nothing to measure from, and the manufacturer gets to pick.

Serial number photo

A serial typed from memory and a serial photographed off the nameplate are not the same evidence. A transposed character is a unit that was never sold, and the claim comes back as unrecognised rather than denied, which is worse because it looks like your mistake.

Fault description

When the fault was first reported matters as much as what it is. A fault reported inside the term and fixed outside it is still covered; a fault with no reported date is whatever the manufacturer decides it is.

Fault photos

The failed part in place, before it comes off the roof. Once it is in the van it is a box, and a box proves nothing about where it was mounted or what it was doing.

Parts and labour invoice

The number you are asking them to pay. Brands that reimburse labour reimburse against an invoice, and brands that do not still want the parts cost itemised.

The order to do it in

Check the term is still running

Measure from the start date in REC Solar's document, not from today. REC's standard product warranty needs nothing. ProTrust, the cover on the sales brochure, applies only when an REC Certified Solar Professional installed the system and registered the installation in ProPortal or the SunSnap app. No deadline is published, so do it at commissioning while the details are in hand.

Check the conditions were met

REC Solar attaches conditions to the full term. If one was never met, the term you are claiming against may be shorter than the one on the brochure, and it is better to know that before you file.

Build the evidence pack

Five pieces: install record, serial number photo, fault description, fault photos, parts and labour invoice. Missing one is the most common reason a claim comes back.

File it and record what it cost you

REC Solar carries 20 years of labour cover on at least one line, so the invoice is part of the claim rather than a cost you absorb.

The terms you are claiming against

Parts and labour are separate covers, and a claim can be inside one and outside the other.

Warranty terms change and differ by country. This is a reading of the manufacturer's published document on the date shown, not legal advice, and not a substitute for the document that applies to the model you installed.

Submit stays locked until the evidence is attached

Claim Timer builds the pack from the equipment record, holds the serial photo you took at install, and exports one PDF with the serial, install date and confirmation number on the cover.
