Warranty comparison

Alpha ESS vs BYD

The same four questions asked of both: how long on parts, how long on labour, what has to be registered, and what has to stay true.

Line ball

Neither asks meaningfully less than the other.

Alpha ESS and BYD land in much the same place on warranty terms, and the choice comes down to what each one needs from you rather than to the headline number.

What separates them

  • Neither pays toward labour on the lines in this catalogue, so the truck roll is yours either way.
  • Both carry 10 years on parts, so the parts term is not the thing that separates them.

Alpha ESS

Checked 30 July 2026

Alpha ESS gives five years as standard, with 10 years on battery performance, starting at installation or 180 days after manufacture, whichever is earlier. The 10 year extended cover is a paid extension that has to be bought within 30 days of installation, which makes it a handover conversation rather than a later one.

If the customer wants the 10 year extended cover, the paid extension must be purchased within 30 days of installation. Standard cover is 5 years

BYD

Checked 30 July 2026

BYD has no registration at all. The trap is the start date. Without written proof of delivery, the 10 years runs from six months after production, which can quietly burn months of cover before the battery is switched on. A delivery note moves the start to delivery plus 30 days.

Delivery note kept on file: it moves the warranty start from production date + 6 months to delivery + 30 days

Warranty terms change and differ by country. This is a reading of the manufacturer's published document on the date shown, not legal advice, and not a substitute for the document that applies to the model you installed.
