Registering Tesla

A commissioning app registers this one, and your job is verifying it happened.

No deadline

No clock. 2 conditions to confirm instead.

Powerwall is registered with Tesla at commissioning, so there is nothing to file later. Connectivity is the condition that matters: the 10 year term needs the unit to stay connected to the internet. If the connection drops and is not restored within 45 days of Tesla's written request, cover ends at 48 months.

Verify: step by step

Capture the nameplate before anyone leaves site

Photograph the nameplate and record the serial and model. Tesla asks for serial number, installation date, customer name, installation address, and every one of those is easier on the roof than from the office.

Open the Tesla portal

Registration happens at https://www.tesla.com/en_au/support/energy/powerwall. A commissioning app registers this one, and your job is verifying it happened.

Meet the conditions, then confirm them

Tesla attaches conditions to the full term: Powerwall registered with Tesla at commissioning; Connected to the internet: the 10 year term needs ongoing connectivity, otherwise cover can drop to 4 years. Confirm each one rather than assuming it happened.

Record the confirmation

Save the confirmation number and the date against the job. There is no deadline to prove, but there is a start date to prove, and that is what a claim will ask for.

Warranty terms change and differ by country. This is a reading of the manufacturer's published document on the date shown, not legal advice, and not a substitute for the document that applies to the model you installed.

Stop chasing Tesla registrations by memory
